THIS PAGE IS BIG, PLEASE BE PATIENT WHILE IT LOADS !!
Since the primary mission of the rovers is over and as expected (at least by me)
they continue to feed us with evermore loads of pictures
we decided to stop with the complete following the rovers. (with comments etc.)
We will however go on with supplying you with the best photos made by the rovers.
So three quarters down this page you will see a small change to just the pictures.
(last updated on: august 31st 2004)
will NOT be updated anymore!!!
Sorry the page just got to big.

In memoriam off the crews of the apollo 1 and Space Shuttle Columbia Some marsian hills are named after the crews.
Some driving tracks from the wandering rover Spirit and some even more interesting wave-like structures on the surface.
More images from Spirit including some panoramic shots, one from a rock called Mimi, one called the white boat and one called Humphrey
An impression and an actual shot on the road traveled by Spirit
Spirit is going to investigate a crater called Bonneville. Here are some overview shots (incl. a nice 3D-shot and a beautiful color shot) and a shot to show the rocky road to the rim.
Once in a while Nasa lets Spirit look up in to the sky and look what you can see then.....US !!
What are those "sand dunes" over here? Lets see
Panorama shot of Spirits destination 'Colombia hills' (on the right) with a zoomed version off the landers heatshield
This mosaic image from Spirit shows the trench or "scuff" mark in the Gusev Crater location dubbed "Serpent."
A rock formation called 'Mazatzal"
The rocky road ahead towards "colombia hills"
Two other shots of where Spirit wants to go. In normaland 3D view
Results photos of grinding on the rock "Mazatzal"
Before, during and after shots of the grinding work
Say farewell to 'Bonneville' crater
Interesting rock dubbed 'Route 66'
For the first time Spirit can see the rim of the 'Gusev' crater (the one where he landed in)

Close-up off 'Stone mountain'
Opportunity working on the soil
More Panoramic images from Opportunity
Opportunity start working on a VERY important Rock formation called: EL CAPITAN
Then we found proof of water on MARS
Microscopic image of "Flatrock"
Also sometimes Opportunity is looking up and what wonders can you see then...... The eclipses of Phobos and Deimos with the sun.
On this location Opportunity discovered the 'recipe' of the "Blueberry" Muffins

Soil area dubbed "Neopolitan" with two different soil types just waiting to be examined named: "cookies and cream" and "Vanilla"
Different types of soil found
Photo showing the rover Opportunity investigating a bright patch of soil dubbed "Mont Blanc."
Visiting and examining a rock dubbed "Bounce" (a rock the lander-airbags bounced off on landing)
NASA's Opportunity used its robotic arm to examine "Bounce Rock" (animated GIF, 1,47MB)
Nice view of the surroundings
Look, a small rock inside the right frontwheel of Opportunity
A Puzzling Crack and curious dimples
The image was taken from the rover's current position along the edge of the large trough dubbed "Anatolia," located some 150 meters (492 feet) away from "Eagle Crater"

After examination the rock "Bounce" is - in composition - almost exactly like a rock found on earth thought to be from Mars
This mosaic image from Opportunity provides an overview of the rover's drive direction toward "Endurance Crater," which is in the upper right corner of image. |
END of Primary mission.
